Privacy
Iska is a shared shopping list app. This page explains, in plain language, what data it handles and why. It covers the Iska app and this website.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Profile: the display name you choose, shown to people on your lists.
- Lists: list names, items, quantities, prices you enter, notes, budgets, and who added or checked each item.
- Place and date: if you attach a place and date to a list, we use them to look up the weather forecast for that day.
How we use it
- To run the app: sync your lists across your devices and with the people you invite.
- Suggestions: to produce the "worth adding" suggestions, the contents of a list (item names, occasion, place and forecast) are sent to an AI language model service, which returns suggestions. We do not use your lists to advertise to you.
- Weather: the coordinates of a list's place are sent to a weather service (Open-Meteo) to get the forecast.
Sharing
Anyone you invite to a list can see that list, its items, and the display names of its members. We do not sell your data. Our service providers (cloud hosting, email delivery, the AI model and weather services above) process data only to provide Iska to you.
Where it is stored
Data is stored with our cloud hosting provider in the European Union.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete lists and items at any time.
- You can ask us to delete your account and its data, or to send you a copy of it, by emailing the address below.
- Location is only used if you attach a place to a list; the app asks for permission first.
